BIOGRAPHY TONY WEBER

Music style influences

Inspired by Krokus, Pink Floyd, Whitesnake, Deep Purple and other classic rock bands in the late 70s/early 80s.

Key experience: A visit to a concert by the band Toto and their guitarist Steve Lukather, world-famous for his catchy solos, in the 80s. This influence continues to this day, with Tony incorporating elements of Lukather's playing and many others into his own style. Tony is well versed in various styles (pop, rock, blues, fusion).

Biography

THE BEGINNINGS

Born in 1966, lead and rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and composer Tony Weber began playing guitar at the age of 12. Tony is self-taught and, apart from a few lessons from a graduate of the GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology, Los Angeles), taught himself to play the guitar.

BANDS AND ACTIVITIES

Influenced by the 70's and 80's and the "Guitar Heroes" of that era, Tony first played in the band "Trade Mark". Soon followed his first recordings with this "garage band" ("Out Of The Heart" 1986, "Fever" 1989) as well as live concerts and many cool experiences that can only be had "on the road". In Ron Phillips (Black Angels, among others), this formation had a real, seasoned rock warhorse on board as frontman in the early 90s. Tony was on the road with "Trade Mark" in a changing line-up until 1999. Most of the songs were composed, arranged and produced in a private home recording studio. Trade Mark disbanded in 1999. Tony "jammed" regularly for his soul, the good feeling and occasionally as a "temp" (e.g. from 2000 - 2001 on "Moonroom" with Math Strübi and Brian Kofmehl, both ex-China).

In 2009, the MATRIX BAND project was formed, which produced rock covers and performed live with a line-up featuring bass (Bruno Herzig), drums (Paul Schweiwiller) and state-of-the-art computer technology (keyboard programming).  In January 2013, the band recorded a live performance (with an audience) at the legendary Powerplay Studio in Maur (www.powerplaystudios.ch).

NEW INSPIRATION

In the summer of 2014, Tony Weber took part in the top-ranked G4 Experience 2014 Guitar Camp in the USA (Cambria, CA) and completed workshops and courses with Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Mike Keneally and Andy Timmons, all world-class musicians, teachers and stars of the modern guitar scene in the USA. This stay and the collegial and artistic inspiration he experienced there led to the decision to start his own project "TONY WEBER" in 2015. Thank you guys FOR INSPIRING ME so much!
